Burlesque artist Dita Von Teese says it was female intuition that made her ignore a call from prank-happy comedian Russell Brand.
The two met when Russell (shown below) interviewed her and asked for her number. During a radio broadcast, he bragged to friend Matt Morgan that Dita was totally hot for him.
Said Russell: "It was very clearly a prelude to some bloody good, tease-ridden burlesque sex. I gave her the interviewing of her life and obviously made quite an impression because she gave me her digits. She couldn't have been more forthcoming."
After being egged on by Matt -- and so it begins -- Russell called Dita's mobile during the show, but she didn't pick up.
Speaking on the red carpet at the British Comedy Awards today, Dita said: "Just because I gave him my number does not mean I'll be going on a date with him. I was the subject of one of his calls...but I didn’t answer the phone, thank goodness."

Dita's right to have reservations about the quirky comedian -- Russell had to quit his BBC radio show after making obscene prank calls (transcript) to elderly former actor Andrew Sachs.
Russell's co-hort, TV presenter Jonathan Ross, who gets paid £6M ($12M) a year for some inexplicable reason, whatever it might happen to be, was suspended for 12 weeks without pay after the ridiculous prank.
Dita credits her intuition with helping dodge the set up, saying: "I just saw his name come up on the screen and thought: 'I don’t think I'm going to answer that right now.' He was on air and it was just good female intuition."
The disgraced comedian apparently felt quite the fool, as the only thing he was able to dish up to his audience was a weak voicemail on Dita's cellie:
"Oh, hi, Dita, this is Russell. Just ringing to see if you're still interested in my speed boat and various charity events. So if you do want to do these charity events and speed boats...Sorry Dita, this is Russell, I'm on my radio show. I met you the other day and my friend Matt has made me call you and do this."

When reporters asked her on the red carpet today whether she'd be hooking up with Russell, she laughed at them.
And, for people (this means you, laddios) who like to watch, some gratuitous burlesque from Wonderbra ad spot, The Science of Sexy, featuring the shapely siren. You're welcome.
